Angola defends responsible mobility in CPLP

Sal Island, ANGOLA, July 17 - Angola backs up a responsible mobility of people and goods inside the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP), said on Monday, in Ilha de Sal, Cabo Verde, the Foreign Affairs minister, Manuel Augusto.,

Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the preparation meeting of the CPLP Heads of State and Government Summit, the Angolan head of diplomacy affirmed that his country understands that the responsible free mobility of people and goods inside the community must be the core of the organization.

 

"We are countries with a visible diversity, including in term of continents, and we have to take into account the various realities and always walk with conviction in a gradual way, so that the steps that may be taken are the most certain possible and we do not have to regret any thoughtless decision,” said the minister.

 

Questioned on whether Angola’s intention in joining Commonwealth and others linguistic communities would not harm CPLP, the diplomat said the requests to be part of these institutions have been based on the countries geographic and geostrategic localization.

 

He also underscored that in the Southern region Angola is the only country surrounded by Anglophone and Francophone nations.

 

In the meantime, Manuel Augusto stated that for mutual interest of the peoples of region and to improve communicability, Angola will profit a lot, should it be accepted in other organizations, quoting examples of observers countries in CPLP including France, which expects to be admitted on Tuesday.

 

Created in 17 July of 1996, CPLP is an international organization formed by Portuguese speaking countries, whose aim is to deepening the mutual friendship and cooperation amongst the members.   

 

CPLP is made up by Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea Equatorial, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé e Príncipe and Timor-Leste.
