Kefalogianni proposes ‘European’ tourist visa
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on Friday he agreed with Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni’s proposal for the facilitation of tourists via visas that allow visits to several EU member-states, at a tourism forum held in Rome.
Kefalogianni proposed the introduction of a visa that would allow tourists wishing to visit more than one EU country – going, for example, to Greece, Italy and then France – to travel using a single visa. Greece’s minister specially mentioned the growing interest from the middle class in India, as well as from Chinese tourists.
“Of course, all of this must fully respect the security and control requirements established by the Schengen Agreement and the entire body of European regulations,” she explained.
Tajani added that, in coordination with his European counterparts, he will promote the proposal and will refer to it in detail at the upcoming Friends of the Western Balkans meeting in New York.
