When Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia told United that they wish to explore a future away from Old Trafford, Ruben Amorim would have surely been pleased.
United's players will start to return to Carrington next week, but those five players are set to return later in July to allow them time to explore options away from the club.
It means Amorim has a clean break, at least for now, from five players he didn't want to work with next season and he can concentrate on the players he will work with next term without a transfer sideshow on the training ground.
However, it is just a reprieve. United have to make that extra time count and find new permanent homes for those players to avoid a transfer circus dragging on and into the start of the season.

Manchester United have launched their new home kit for the 2025/26 season with an Adidas shirt paying tribute to Old Trafford.

FanaticsRashford is attracting interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Antony impressed on loan at Real Betis and the Spanish side are keen to sign him permanently this summer. United would have to sell him for £32.8million to avoid making a PSR loss.
Chelsea opted against signing Sancho permanently after his loan spell last season, but Juventus are keen to sign him.
Garnacho is free to leave the club this summer if the right offer is tabled. Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Chelsea have been linked with the 21-year-old.
Interest in Malacia hasn't been as forthcoming after his loan spell at PSV but United have to find a resolution quickly on all five counts.
Amorim wants to work with players who are fully focused on challenging for the biggest honours with Manchester United.
Matheus Cunha has joined from Wolves and United are keen to sign Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, too. Those additions should have a positive effect on United's prospects this season.
Amorim can ill afford to have any transfer sagas impacting his first pre-season at the club. The onus is now on United's decision makers, and the players looking to leave, to find the right move.
