Today, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, a meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mahri Bashimova and the new Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) Batyr Mamedov.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the parties discussed issues of cooperation, in particular, the efforts of Central Asian countries in combating the negative consequences of climate change, Turkmenistan’s international initiatives in the field of environmental protection, as well as issues of implementing joint projects.
It was noted that by ratifying the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, Turkmenistan is fulfilling all of its obligations.
The active work of the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan, whose activities are aimed at promoting the development of regional dialogue between representatives of environmental and water agencies of the countries of the region, was also discussed.
The parties expressed mutual interest in developing mutually beneficial relations, the source notes.
