South Carolina football offers four-star tight end from powerhouse program

South Carolina football tight ends coach Shawn Elliott has extended an offer to a major recruit in the class of 2027. On Wednesday, four-star prospect Judah Lancaster announced on social media that the Gamecocks had offered.
Originally from the state of Arizona, Lancaster attends powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. South Carolina joins a long list of suitors who have offered the 6-4 tight end a scholarship. Recently, Lancaster said that Arizona State, Arizona, Utah, UCLA, Texas A&M, Florida, Missouri, Oregon, and Ohio State were some of the schools pushing hardest in his recruitment. Carolina and LSU are his two most recent offers on a list that includes over 30 schools.

As a player, Lancaster is a versatile tight end. He lines up as an in-line tight end, an off-set wing, and in the slot as a jumbo Y. He’s a good athlete who can be a matchup problem when covered by slower linebackers or by smaller defensive backs. Lancaster has good hands and also is a legitimate YAC threat when he gets the ball. While he will never be confused for a road grader at the point of attack, he is a willing blocker who will put himself between defenders and the football, something not all modern tight ends are willing to do.

According to the On3 industry ranking–a weighted composite of the rankings from On3, 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals–Lancaster is the No. 312 overall player in the class of 2027. He’s also No. 19 nationally among tight ends and No. 36 in the state of Florida.
Like most of the country, South Carolina does not have any players committed in the 2027 cycle. The Gamecocks have offered eight tight end recruits in the class, but Lancaster is the first one from Florida.
