Kentucky has landed an exciting transfer. On Saturday, former Elon catcher Alex Duffey revealed via social media that he’ll be playing for the Wildcats on the diamond next season.

This past season, Duffey hit .344, amassing 13 doubles, four homers and 54 RBI. He earned Second Team All-CAA honors in the process, and now he’ll be hoping to recreate the success he had with the Phoenix in Lexington.

All in all, Duffey has hit .307 over his three seasons of college baseball. He’s accumulated 125 hits, 24 doubles, 10 homers and 88 RBIs.

Moreover, the addition of Duffey is the latest in a bevy of moves from the Wildcats. On Friday, Nick Mingione and company added former Indiana infielder Tyler Cerny and former Grand Canyon pitcher Connor Mattison via the portal.

Cerny hit .281 with 14 doubles, 10 home runs, and 32 RBI with the Hoosiers in 2025. He amassed 173 games played at IU, and he’ll have one year of eligibility remaining with Kentucky.

On the other hand, Mattison posted a 5.40 ERA with 41 strikeouts across 33.1 innings pitched with the Lopes this past season. Additionally, he tossed a no-hitter as a freshman in 2024. He’ll have two years of eligibility left in Lexington.

The mission for Kentucky will be clear. The Wildcats made the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season in 2025, and the expectations will only grow next season. We’ll see if they can reach their goals.
