The Indian hockey team proved the same today, as both the Men in Blue and their opponents for the day, Argentina, observed a moment of silence for all victims of the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, ahead of their FIH Hockey Pro League fixture on Thursday.

The London-bound Air India flight, which was involved in an accident minutes after takeoff from Ahmedabad on Thursday, crashed into the UG hostel of BJ Medical College in Meghaninagar area.
More than 200 people are feared dead as the plane crashed in the residential area, civil hospital sources said.
Air India said the Boeing 787-8 aircraft was carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members on board. The passengers included 169 Indians, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian national.
The injured were rushed to the nearest hospitals, as only one lone survivor has been spotted so far.
In the midst of the tragedy, both teams, India and Argentina, playing tonight in Amsterdam, took a moment of silence to pay their respects and condolences to all those affected in the unfortunate incident.

One could have expected the Indian team to pay homage with a victory today, but that wouldn’t be the case for Harmanpreet Singh and co. who sunk to a 1-2 loss against the Albiceleste.
India continued their winless streak in the European leg of the FIH Hockey Pro League tonight, having secured only 15 points in 12 games now, as they stand at a measly fifth in the standings.
