If You Love Mexico So Much, Go Back to Mexico
If you want all of the benefits of America under the flag of Mexico, you are living in a dreamland that disregards why living in America is immeasurably better than living in Mexico.
Five years after the George Floyd riots caused billions of dollars of damage with hordes of masked lunatics rampaging around dozens of cities — supposedly in pursuit of some kind of anti-racism position under the banner of Black Lives Matter — violence has once again returned to American streets.
“Summer in the city” means something very different these days …
In Los Angeles — under the incompetent leadership of Mayor Karen Bass and Gov. Gavin Newsom — hooligans have somehow turned the City of Angels into even more of a hellscape, with gangs looting stores, blocking highways and assaulting law enforcement officers (including throwing chunks of cement from bridges). That’s called “attempted murder,” by the way.
But among these riots, something else stands out: the flags. Specifically, the Mexican flag. Because last time I checked, Los Angeles was in California, and California is in the United States of America.
In 2020, the apparent issue driving public outrage was the subject of race. In 2025, it’s the notion of citizenship and sovereignty. With the Trump administration doing its legal duty and deporting illegal immigrants, the targets of the mob have gone from the faceless drivers of systemic racism to the all-too-identifiable members of federal law enforcement and border control. ICE officers are even routinely compared to the Gestapo — a laughably offensive characterization for countless reasons — as they attempt to arrest illegal immigrants, as if the German Jews brutalized by the Gestapo were trying to get into Germany, rather than escape.
What has replaced the “Black Lives Matter” flags in 2025? Mexican flags. Yes, Mexican flags.
I’m confused. If the notion of being deported to Mexico fills you with such dread that you’re willing to take to the streets and engage in despicable violence … why are you waving the flag of the country you supposedly fear so much?
I could at least begin to understand being anti-enforcement of border control if the people who were facing deportation were enthusiastic supporters of America. For example, protesting ICE with a sea of American flags could — at least on the surface — present a patriotic pro-immigration message.
But that’s not what they’re doing! They’re protesting the deportation of Mexicans to Mexico by waving the Mexican flag. Sorry, that makes absolutely no sense.
If Mexico is your country, go live in Mexico. If you want America to be your country, focus on being an American. You can start by waving the American flag. But if you want all of the benefits of America under the flag of Mexico, you are living in a dreamland that disregards why living in America is immeasurably better than living in Mexico.
We’re not talking about the celebration of various cultures under the umbrella of America. We’re talking about — at its core — a declaration of sovereignty that is alien to the United States. By setting fire to Los Angeles under the Mexican flag, you are making a political statement: a statement we should reject.
Want to set fire to other people’s property under the Mexican flag? Go back to Mexico. It’s really that simple.
