Hilton Is Coming to a New Caribbean Island: Tobago

By: Caitlin Sullivan - May 30, 2025 - 6:13 pm

The Nylon Pool. The Caribbean’s oldest rainforest. The curry crab. Tobago is one of the region’s great undiscovered destinations, and it’s going to soon find itself on the travel map in a major way.

Hilton is expanding its Caribbean footprint with the debut of a new resort in Tobago – but it’s not coming quite yet.

The company has signed an agreement for the Elephant Tree Resort and Villas Tobago, which will become part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton when it opens in 2028.

Set on more than 1,000 feet of oceanfront in the town of Roxborough, the resort will mark the debut of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection brand on the island.

A beach in Tobago.

The new-build property will include 40 guest rooms and 126 branded residences, ranging from two- to three-bedroom units, each with private terraces and upscale finishes.

The resort will span more than 21 acres of lush coastal terrain, blending boutique-style accommodations with full-scale resort amenities, including a spa, a fitness center, and three swimming pools — one of which will feature a three-story waterfall.

Elephant Tree will also include 400 square feet of indoor event space and multiple dining concepts, from an all-day restaurant to a beach club with a grill and bar set right on the sand.

“Introducing Tapestry Collection by Hilton to the beautiful island of Tobago was a natural fit,” said Elizabeth Scruggs, brand leader, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. “Tobago is renowned for its rich culture, breathtaking natural landscapes, and warm hospitality.”

The resort will be operated by Hotel Equities and joins a fast-growing Caribbean pipeline for Hilton, which currently includes 49 open hotels in the region and nearly 40 more in development.

Hotel Equities has been on a major expansion push in the Caribbean, as Caribbean Journal previously reported.

Trinidad already has one hotel in the twin-island country, the Hilton Trinidad.
