WICKLIFFE, Ky. (WSIL) -- Geotechnical drilling work is continuing on the Kentucky side of the U.S. 51 Ohio River "Cairo" Bridge, connecting Cairo, Illinois, and Wickliffe, Kentucky. This work is part of the preliminary efforts for the U.S. 51 Bridge Replacement Project.

Over the next few weeks, two crews will drill at various locations to gather data on soil and settlement conditions for future bridge piers and abutments.

Motorists should stay alert as drilling occurs both on and off the roadway. When operations are near traffic, signage and flaggers will help direct vehicles safely.

Drivers are advised to reduce speed when entering the work zone. For more information about the project, visit us51bridge.com.
