Ex-J&K CM Ghulam Nabi Azad hospitalised during all-party delegation visit to Kuwait

During an all-party delegation’s visit to Kuwait on Tuesday, Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chairman and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was hospitalised. BJP MP Baijayant Panda confirmed the development on X, adding that Azad’s absence will be missed in the next leg of the delegation’s engagements.

New Delhi: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad was admitted to a hospital on Tuesday while accompanying an all-party delegation in Kuwait. BJP MP Baijayant Panda shared the news on X, stating that Azad’s absence would be felt in the upcoming phase of the delegation’s visit.

Baijayant Panda, who was leading the delegation, said, “Halfway into our delegation’s tour, Shri @ghulamnazad has had to be admitted to hospital. He is stable, under medical supervision, and will be undergoing some tests and procedures. His contributions to the meetings in Bahrain and Kuwait were highly impactful, and he is disappointed at being bedridden. We will deeply miss his presence in Saudi Arabia and Algeria.”

The delegation, headed by BJP MP Baijayant Panda, visited Kuwait on behalf of the Indian government to highlight Pakistan’s alleged involvement in terrorist activities and to present India’s perspective on the ongoing tensions between the two nations.

Azad slams Pakistan propaganda

Ghulam Nabi Azad, a seasoned political figure and a key member of the multi-party team sent to rally international support, criticised Pakistan for spreading false narratives that have heightened friction with India. While in Kuwait, Azad told ANI, “Pakistan spreads a lot of disinformation. It is their habit. So, in the meetings that were held today a lot of questions and answers took place. I think the disinformation which they used to hear have all been done away with. So, it was a really good program.”

The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister also mentioned that the delegation conveyed India’s internal unity to their Kuwaiti counterparts. “We told them about our country, how lives everyone together with love, Hindus-Muslims-Sikhs-Christians. political parties debate in Parliament but when it is a question of the country, we stand united inside and outside the country,” Azad added.
