HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — A man wanted in Ohio on gun charges was taken into custody in Huntington, U.S. marshals said.
Lerah’j Laron Kirkland, 18, of Columbus, Ohio, was taken into custody about 7:45 a.m. at a residence in the 100 block of Linden Circle in Huntington, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service. He was wanted on felony gun charges in Franklin County, Ohio.
A firearm in Kirkland’s possession was also recovered during his arrest, the news release said.
Marshals said Kirkland has a criminal history of obstructing police, receiving stolen property and possession of a machine gun. He is also believed to have ties to gangs in Columbus, the news release said.
Kirkland is currently being held in West Virginia and is awaiting extradition back to Ohio.
