Irakli Pavlenishvili: The impression remains that this person does not understand the gravity of the situation in the country not only for Georgia, but also for the international community

As a result of this visit and his statements, of course, the impression remains that this person does not understand the gravity of the situation in the country, not only for Georgia, but also for the international community, - Irakli Pavlenishvili, Deputy Secretary General of the Unity - National Movement, assesses the visit of the OSCE Secretary General to Georgia and the statement made by him.

According to Irakli Pavlenishvili, it is important that the international community well perceives the threat that "the Ivanishvili regime poses not only to Georgia, but also to European security".

“When a dictatorship is established in a country and civil political rights are being destroyed and restricted every day, at this time, of course, all representatives of international institutions must be adequate to the created environment. This, among other things, will be important for security and stability throughout the world, because the transition from democratic systems to autocratic ones is a challenge for absolutely everyone.

As a result of this visit and his statements, of course, the impression remains that this person does not understand the gravity of the situation in the country not only for Georgia, but also for the international community. However, the fact is that Ivanishvili’s regime cannot achieve the legitimacy and recognition that it aspired to in the Western world. Georgia has never had such an isolated and sanctioned de facto government in its recent history.

[Regarding the parliamentary elections] The OSCE/ODIHR conclusion also emphasized what the opposition or the non-governmental sector was talking about, although we are not talking only about the total rigging of the elections, we are talking about a country where the Western course has changed, European integration has stopped, people were tortured, treated inhumanly, and after that, not a single person has been identified or punished, we have dozens of political prisoners. So, when we talk about the situation in Georgia, there is not only the electoral factor. In order to properly analyze the situation in the country, we need to perceive the process more specifically, and the electoral process is not necessary to draw conclusions," Irakli Pavlenishvili said.

Michał Kobosko - we hope that your government eventually would either choose the European way, the democratic way or would resign seeing the number, the size and scale of the citizens' protests
