Proposals for peacekeepers in Ukraine look like attempt to save regime’s remnants — Lavrov

The top Russian diplomat said that the process of settling the Ukrainian crisis had not yet started

MOSCOW, March 11. /TASS/. Proposals to deploy peacekeepers to Ukraine seem to be an attempt to shield the remnants of the Kiev regime from "the people's anger," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated at a news conference following discussions with Feridun Sinirlioglu, the Secretary-General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

"What exactly will the peacekeepers be protecting? The remnants of Kiev's neo-Nazi regime, which has enacted a series of laws aimed at exterminating Russian culture, language, and media, while also banning the Ukrainian canonical Orthodox Church? Shouldn't we first focus on ending these racist practices perpetuated by the Kiev regime? This issue must be prioritized. Otherwise, it all appears to be an attempt to save the remnants of this regime from the people's anger through the deployment of peacekeepers," he remarked.

Lavrov said that the process of settling the Ukrainian crisis had not yet started. "Mr. [Vladimir] Zelensky publicly states that he does not want any truce until the Americans give him guarantees that if anything happens, they will bomb Russia with nuclear weapons. He poses this question in roughly the same way, so for now this is not serious," he emphasized.
