Will donate Rs 1 lakh to AAP if govt passes Metro Phase IV: Manoj Tiwari

AAP's donation campaign "Aap Ka Daan, Rashtra Ka Nirman" was launched by CM Arvind Kejriwal earlier this week, under which monthly donations will be collected from people, in view of coming polls incuding the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari Thursday said he was ready to donate Rs 1,11,100 to the Aam Aadmi Party, provided that the Delhi government passed Phase IV of the Delhi Metro expansion project. “Arvind Kejriwal ji, do not punish people who have elected you. Delhi gave 67 out of 70 seats to Kejriwal, but he says he will not give them Metro. Take your donation. I will give you Rs 1,11,100 that I earn through singing if you clear Phase IV Metro,” Tiwari tweeted.

The AAP kicked off its donation campaign this week. The Phase IV project has been stuck at the stage of approvals with the Delhi Government for several months now. Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri has also raised the issue several times, offering to pay for the entire project if the Delhi government was to reject the proposal.

Delhi Finance Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the approval for the project is stuck at the stage of financial approvals because of questions raised about feasibility. Phase IV of the Metro is expected to connect parts of Outer Delhi with the centre of the city.

“… We have not rejected the proposal entirely… One concern is the Metro fare. When the Delhi government is not given a say in fixing fares, why should we fund it? Mr Puri had said the centre was ready to fund the project. I’m wondering when that will happen,” Sisodia said.
