Bishkek, Dec. 16, 2017 / Kabar/. The Programme Office in Bishkek supported a one-month training course aimed at improving the skills of the staff of Kyrgyzstan’s State Commission on Religious Affairs (SCRA) in promoting gender equality. The training sessions for SCRA staff course took place from 8 November to 6 December 2017 in Bishkek.

The participants included 19 mid-level professionals and young staff members. They were familiarized with key gender concepts, in particular gender mainstreaming, a process of assessing how a planned action, project or programme impacts women and men.

Gender mainstreaming ensures that the goal of gender equality is central to all activities such as resource allocation, planning, implementation and monitoring of projects. During the course, the participants were taught how to make gender mainstreaming part of existing public policies and how to include it into project monitoring and evaluation.

The OSCE is committed to making equality between men and women an integral part of its policies, both at the level of participating States and within the Organization, as stated in its 2004 Action Plan for the Promotion of Gender Equality.
