Bessemer police respond to shootout at barbershop on 9th Ave.

BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) - A shootout in front of a Bessemer barbershop left a few people shaken up on Saturday.

Bessemer police said two men were shot in front of the barbershop on 9th Avenue.

Witnesses wouldn't talk on camera, but they said the gunshots were loud and frightening.

Investigators said two men got into an argument in the parking lot of the barbershop and began shooting at one another.

Both men were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.

A bullet went straight into the barbershop, but no one inside was hit by the gunfire.

"When these people firing these guns, they don't realize what's going on in the background, very dangerous. Guns are not the answer to solve people's problems," said Sgt. Charles Burton.

Burton said arrests could be made soon.
