Oman tennis: Fatma Al Nabhani marches ahead in Tunisia

Muscat: Continuing with her splendid performance in the $15,000 ITF Pro Circuit Hammamet Open tournaments, Fatma Al Nabahni advanced to the singles second round in Tunisia on Wednesday.
In a first round match of second of her back-to-back Hammamet Open events, Fatma overcame a stiff challenge from French girl Loudmilla Bencheikh for a well-deserved 7-6 (4), 6-4 victory.
In the second round, the second-seeded Omani star will clash with Italian Michele Alexandra Zmau.
Zmau moved up after defeating Romanian qualifier Gabriela Nicole Tatarus 6-2, 6-1.
Fatma had already reached the doubles quarterfinals in the company of Bulgaria’s Isabella Shinikova.
In the last eight stage, Fatma and Isabella will square off against Andrea Ghitescu of Romania and Caroline Romeo of France.
Fatma won the singles title in another $15,000 ITF Pro Circuit Hammamet Open organised last week at the same venue.
