President Maduro: claims US delay in Visa for UN travel

Venezuela’s Ambassador to the United Nations claims the United States is stalling on issuing a visa for President Nicolás Maduro’s travel to address the UN General Assembly in New York.

“I have the honor to address Your Excellency in the opportunity of informing that the Government of the United States of America is obstructing the entry of H.E. Mr. Nicolás Maduro Moros, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, to U.S. territory, having deliberately delayed the approval of entry permits for his official aircraft and entourage, in order to create logistical barriers that could impede his visit,” Samuel Moncada, Venezuela’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations wrote, in a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, a copy of which was provided to The Black Star News.

“The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela demands the United Nations to call for the Government of the United States of America to strictly comply with its international obligations, by removing all obstacles for the entry of President Nicolás Maduro Moros and his entourage, who are coming to exercise their right to participate in the General Debate of the 68 Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.”

The Black Star News couldn’t get a reaction from the State Department this afternoon.
