Jack Harrison will cap off a whirlwind week on Tuesday when he makes his first start for England Under 21s in their Euro 2019 qualifier at Andorra.

The New York City star was a late call-up to Aidy Boothroyd's Young Lions following the withdrawals of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Sheyi Ojo.

Harrison, 20, was an 88th-minute substitute for Tammy Abraham as England U21s overcame rivals Scotland 3-1 last week.

And he will be given his full debut on Tuesday when Boothroyd's side look to retain their three-point lead at the top of their qualifying Group 4.

Harrison began his career as a youth player at Manchester United but moved to the United States aged 14 and made his debut for New York City in May last year.

He scored his first professional goal on his first start against Real Salt Lake in June 2016 and was nominated for the Major League Soccer Rookie of the Year award.

Meanwhile, it emerged last week that Manchester City have first refusal on Harrison, putting them ahead of rivals United in the race to sign the Stoke-born starlet.

Both City and United are monitoring the winger's progress but reports suggest it is Pep Guardiola's side that are in pole position to secure his signature.

The Sun claim that despite Harrison being part of the United academy until the age of 14, City's relationship with the New York club will give them first refusal on the 20-year-old.

Harrison grew up a Liverpool fan in Bolton before playing alongside Marcus Rashford in the United academy. After leaving, he headed across the Atlantic and is currently managed by ex-City coach Patrick Vieira.
