First Deputy FM Kemelova participates in OSCE Asian Conference in Berlin

Bishkek, June 20 / Kabar /. 2017 OSCE Asian Conference is held in Berlin on June 19-20. The delegation of Kyrgyzstan is headed by First Deputy Foreign Minister Dinara Kemelova, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.

Within the framework of the conference, representatives of OSCE member states, together with the Asian partners of the Organization (Australia, Afghanistan, the Republic of Korea, Thailand and Japan) are discussing potential ways of cooperation in strengthening stability and security, as well as expanding economic ties in the regional dimension.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier highlighted the key role of international and regional organizations in counteracting contemporary threats and challenges, and called on the international community to engage more actively with Asian partners for cooperation. He stressed the existing potential of the OSCE Academy in Kyrgyzstan to train citizens of the whole region and urged delegations to provide financial support to the Academy.

In her speech Kemelova stressed the importance of strengthening the economic component in the activities of the Organization, in order to ensure human rights for health, education, and poverty reduction in Central Asia.

The head of the Kyrgyz delegation paid special attention to the issues of regional cooperation. In particular, it was stressed that the establishment of a multilateral regional platform would allow the countries of Central Asia to interact among themselves on a wide range of issues, including on a mutually beneficial basis, to strengthen trade and economic cooperation in the region.

In addition, Kemelova noted the priority of addressing such tasks as the development of regional transport infrastructure, the creation of favorable conditions for the unimpeded movement of goods and services, as well as the facilitation of cross-border trade.
