Instability within the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) had prompted 2014 candidate Tomasi Wainiqolo Vakatora to join Unity Fiji party.

He said many issues had come up within SODELPA that caused differences and instability within the party and its members making this the right time to move on.

“I have joined Unity Fiji. I resigned from SODELPA in October and now participate in a lot of community meetings with Unity Fiji,” Mr Vakatora said.

“I noticed a lot of uncertainty within SODELPA and I have known this for a long time, so within a year I decided to move on.

“Unity Fiji approached me and I was happy to join because there are some credible people in the party.

“I am sure Unity Fiji will present good alternatives, good policies and like I said, a good line up of people.”

Mr Vakatora was one of the 48 candidates for SODELPA in the 2014 General Election. He raked in 1478 votes in 2014.
